Randy Amestoy was born and raised in Northern Nevada and his family has been serving the citizens of Nevada for longer than most can remember. His great uncle, John Koontz, served as Nevada Secretary of State for over 20 years, whose brother Louie worked alongside Randy’s grandmother at the Nevada Highway Department for over 30 years. His father, Fire Chief for the City of Reno and his mother has worked for the Washoe County District Attorney, Clerk, and 2nd Judicial District Court as well as serving at the Nevada Legislature. To say public service is in Randy’s blood would be an understatement!
Randy’s passion for public service is apparent. Many of you have visited the clerk’s office and I am sure many of you have witnessed Randy in action. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life and from every country is only rivalled by his knowledge of the clerk’s office. He goes out of his way to make your visit a pleasant one, he’s definitely not the stereotypical government worker and his co-workers will attest to that.
His love of life and service extend into his personal life as well. A father of two daughters and avid music lover and collector you can often find him strolling through the shops in midtown, or playing a round at the shoe, or just enjoying a hike with his dogs Randy is the type of person we need.
